Philosophy and Style
I believe your pet portrait should be very personal. I work from your photo to capture your pet’s expression in your chosen style. The eye expression is the most critical part of the work so I often spend time enhancing the eye color, outline, and light reflection.
To create each piece, I borrow concepts from both the realisim and the impressionism artistic styles to offer accurate yet artistic renderings of each subject. By creatively incorporating artistic elements including light, shadow, and brush strokes, the finished piece has more texture and interest than a simple cell phone snapshot. The digital process is much faster and more affordable than traditional artwork. It offers a more accurate portrait of your pet. The horse portrait to the left was created from a portrait, hand painted in acrylic, photographed, and lastly computer edited. The hand painted pieces are less realistic and more abstract.

Hello, my name is Rebecca Hartman-Lang. I earned a BS in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University and also studied art at The University of Akron and have been a designer for several decades.
I have a deep love of animals, nature, and art and recently decided to offer digital pet art online from photos. This method captures the animal’s expression while affordably creating a one-of-a-kind pet portrait. Plus, the digital file can be used over and over.
